The Legal Entity Identification (LEI) code is a 20-character alphanumeric code that is based on the ISO 17442 standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Each LEI contains information about the ownership structure of legal entities and thus provides answers to the questions of “who is who” and “who owns whom”.
